THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Buyer (8-month fixed-term contract) to support the Head of Category in all day-to-day activities to source and procure merchandise and execute the category strategy.

The position will promote product ranges across the Food & Tobacco categories to achieve organizational KPIs and develop and grow supplier relationships by negotiating product prices and ranges to meet targets.

 

YOUR DUTIES WILL INCLUDE

  • Execute strategy from the Head of Category and conduct weekly store visits as needed.
  • Manage product range, promotions, pricing, in-stock rates, margin, brand visibility, trade income, returns, compliance, and reporting by category.
  • Collaborate with Planner on demand planning, labelling, and expiry stock.
  • Perform sales analysis, ensure Master Data integrity, and report to the Head of Category.
  • Build supplier relationships for optimal pricing, promotions, and incentives, while reviewing competitive pricing.

 

ABOUT YOU

Essential:

  • 3+ years in retail buying or similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Understanding of the FMCG industry
  • Experience in negotiating ranging and promotions in ANZ
  • Strong numeracy and Microsoft Office skills
  • Proactive problem solving with critical thinking and time management
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience in travel retail
  • Awareness of ACCC pricing guidelines
  • Knowledge of food labelling standards in Australia/NZ
