ABOUT THE ROLE

Located in our Wellington Airport store, your duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Providing a high level of customer service
  • Process sales via the POS/cash register
  • Inform passengers of the conditions relating to their purchases eg customs requirements
  • To be aware of and maximise sales budgets.
  • Know and understand the product range.
  • To participate with and support fellow Sales Team members.
  • To give feedback to the Sales Manager on customer trends and/or requests.
  • Be aware of, and adhere to, Airport security emergency and health and safety procedures.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions on product knowledge and operational procedures as required.

ABOUT YOU

Flexibility around working hours is important and it is essential to have your own form of reliable transport due to the airport location.

You understand that customers are often on time constraints at the airport so you're able to build rapport and understand their needs quickly. You enjoy working as a part of a team though adopt a proactive approach and show initiative when appropriate.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience:

  • Demonstrable experience of cash handling in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of providing exceptional customer service
  • Demonstrable ability to be punctual
  • Strong numerical skills
  • A proven track record of achievement of sales targets on a weekly basis
  • Proven experience of operating a point of sale (POS) system
  • The ability to manage various competing priorities and ability to assess and resolve basic problems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Professional approach and exceptionally well groomed
  • Willingness to work to achieve Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification via an online course
  • A reasonable level of physical fitness, as manual handling/heavy lifting will be involved.

A uniform will be provided to the successful applicant and car parking is free. Employment is subject to an initial and ongoing customs and police clearance. Candidates must hold relevant work rights for New Zealand.
