Established in February 1980, Lotte Duty Free is the second largest travel retailer in the world and operates 20 duty free stores, across 11 international airports, in seven international locations, including Australia, USA, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Thailand and Vietnam.


We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Airport Retail Manager to join a fast paced,dynamic and fun Duty Free retail team.  This is a hands on role and instrumental part of our Darwin operations.

This position is vital in creating sales and GP through effective management of sales team and business operations. To recruit, coach  and lead the store team to ensure highest quality of customer service and maximise sales opportunities.

Reporting to the General Manager, some duties and responsibilities would include, but not be limited to:

  • Maintain a strong focus on the business and understand the sales trends and sales forecasts.
  • Motivate, encourage and lead the sales team members to provide excellence in customer service and achieving sales and gross profit targets on daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Motivate and maintain the selling intensity on the floor with team members by being hands on and leading by example.
  • Ensure each location is sufficiently staffed at all times to maximise our sales opportunities and at the same time ensure the wage costing is within the budget.
  • Assist Sales managers in authorising discounts in line with company policy and guidelines
  • To control and minimise stock losses.
  • Ensure all customer service queries, follow ups, including customer complaints, refunds, credits and repairs are handled to satisfaction in a timely and urgent manner.
  • To ensure all company standards, policies and procedures are followed and ensure compliance by all staff.
  • Identify, plan and schedule training requirements for team members and ensure full attendance.
  • To ensure timely and effective execution of product launches and promotions.
  • To work with the team on maintaining housekeeping standards, visual merchandising and stock level as per guidelines, on a daily basis.
  • identify any behavioural, disciplinary, or possible security issues and alert the Airport Retail Manager.
  • To provide Marketing and Buying teams on competitors activities (duty free and retail), customer trends and requests.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Proven retail management experience within a large busy retail operation that supports, develops and promotes a positive team environment
  • Maintain a strong Focus on the business Strong leadership skills
  • Great communication skills
  • Good business acumen with sound analytical and strategic skills
  • A good sense of creating and cultivating a fun and focused team


The likely roster will be as follows, however applicants need to be flexible to come in where required. 

Monday - 3:30am - 11:30am

Tuesday 8:30am - 5pm

Wednesday (Split shifts)- 10am - 4pm & 8pm - 11pm

Thursday  8am - 4pm

Friday - RDO

Saturday - RDO

Sunday - 9am - 5pm
